A major event for young people pondering what to do next with their lives is set to take place at Blackburn's King George's Hall tomorrow, Thursday.

Blackburn's Inspiring, previously known as Blackburn Is Hiring, will take place at the historic venue all day.

Sixteen secondary schools are taking part in the gathering - which offers advice on post-16 and post-18 options for all-comers.

Around 2,150 are expected to attend the event, including those not currently in education, employment or training, known as NEETs.

Now in its seventh year, education and training providers as well as local employers will have stands and representatives across two floors at the hall, looking at opportunities for future study as well as possibilities across the world of work.

Cllr Julie Gunn, the borough's executive member for children, young people and education, said: "This is a great opportunity for our young people to see what opportunities are available to them.

"It will offer advice, training and career opportunities giving them an insight into what skills they need to go forward.

"The previous Blackburn’s Inspiring events have been a great success, and we will look forward to welcoming our young people to engage and become inspired about their future prospects."
