Expectant Burnley holidaymakers forming an orderly queue at the town’s Cattle Market in 1930 for the coaches which would take them off on their annual Wakes Week holiday.
The seaside - usually Blackpool - would be the likely destination and the families would have packed everything they needed for their week away in their trusty suitcases. This often included food which the seaside landladies would cook for them.
The shop in the background clearly knew about the perils of an English summer, with the large sign advertising waterproofs.
