Adnan Hussain will host his first series of local surgeries for constituents since he was elected in June.

The events, at Morrisons in Railway Road on Tuesday, September 17 and the Audley Centre in Chester Street on Wednesday, September 18, will offer constituents a chance to meet their new MP and raise concerns.

No appointment is required but it can only be attended by those whose residences are in the Blackburn constituency.

Mr Hussain recently joined an Independent Group, known as the Independent Alliance, in parliament alongside Jeremy Corbyn after he narrowly won the seat in July on a pro-Gaza ticket.

The new party has formed the fourth-largest group on the opposition benches, alongside Reform UK and the DUP.

The group has already hit out at the Prime Minister - after his speech warning of a painful budget – with Hussain stating that Keir Starmer is “choosing to inflict pain and poverty across the country.”

His campaign was supported by councillors from the 4 Blackburn with Darwen group who had resigned from the Labour Party last year over their stance on the conflict.

It was deemed a remarkable victory for the candidate who decided to run for election six weeks before the count and turned over an 18,000 Labour majority to win by 132 votes.

He attracted large crowds, unlike any other local candidate, during his campaign where he promised to bring together the communities across the town.

In a recent interview with the Lancashire Telegraph, the Burnley-born lawyer, who was educated at Blackburn College, vowed to make the town “brilliant” again.

The Morrison’s surgery will take place between 11am and 2pm and the Audley Centre one will take place between 10am and 12pm.
