A train company has warned travellers to expect some disruption today (September 14) as a tree is blocking the railway near Blackburn.

It is causing delays to services between Blackburn and Clitheroe.

Northern, a train company that operates in Lancashire and other parts of the north, said Network Rail staff are en route to the location.

Lines are open but train services running through these stations will be delayed by up to 30 minutes. Disruption is expected until 1.30pm today.

A spokesperson for Northern said: “A tree is blocking the railway near Blackburn. Network Rail staff are en route to the location.

“Train services running through [Blackburn and Clitheroe] stations will be delayed by up to 30 minutes. Disruption is expected until 1.30.
