A Burnley teenager who only took up boxing last year has won a national tournament.
Layla Khan triumphed in the 50kg weight category in Devon, taking home Barum Boxing Cup title.
The victory came in her sixth fight at the tournament, all of which she won.
Dad Sharaz said: “We are all really proud of her and she has done well in such a short space of time.
“She only took up the sport last November and has really excelled.
“Anyone who has seen her fight has been impressed with her performances.
“The whole family are really delighted with how she has taken to the sport.”
Layla is currently studying for an apprenticeship in Personal Training at Burnley College and previously attended Blessed Trinity.
A talented footballer, Layla took up boxing after getting injured. She now trains six times a week.
Sharaz added: “She loved football but then got injured. So, she then decided she would try her had at boxing.
“She is hoping to enter some more tournaments in the coming months.”
