Blackburn actress Helen Flanagan has revealed details about her ‘secret boyfriend’ after appearing on Channel 4 dating show, Celebs Go Dating.

The former Westholme School pupil was trying to find love on the show, which sees celebrities go on dates with civilians to try and strike up a romantic relationship with them.

Helen, best known for playing Rosie Webster in Coronation Street, shocked dating agents on the show by dropping the shocking bombshell that she was already dating someone.

Helen said: “I did meet someone at home at the beginning of the year.

"I really wanted to join the agency because I was [previously] in a long-term relationship with not much dating experience.

"I wanted to do this for me, to grow and find out more about myself but it’s really hard because there is somebody at home I have fallen for.

“I am comparing everybody to him and it’s making it very difficult now when I am dating.

“My feelings have gotten stronger and things have gotten more intense. I think I am in love with him.”

Helen revealed her boyfriend on the show and even took him on a date. He was later revealed to be Robbie Talbot, from Liverpool.

Robbie now works in construction but is a former professional footballer.

Between 1999 to 2005, Robbie Talbot was regarded as a top striker in non-league football, with stints at the Rochdale youth team, Marine, Burscough, Burton Albion and Morecambe football clubs.

Speaking on the show, Helen said: “I spend all of my time with [Robbie] and he makes me really happy. I feel like he is really supportive.

“So I am very happy with Robbie. As a couple, I feel like we’ve got really strong foundations.”

While on a date, Robbie said his calming nature is “good for Helen”.

He said to Helen: “You are hard on yourself sometimes and you overthink things. You let things get to you when they shouldn’t.

“I think I am good for you in that sense because I am quite calm. You need to realise there is a solution to every problem and don’t overthink everything.”

Former Gogglebox star Stephen Webb, Married At First Sight UK's Ella Morgan, Love Island star Chris Taylor, Tristan Phipps from Made in Chelsea, reality star Lauryn Goodman and actress and singer Jamelia, are also on the show.
