A man accused of ‘videoing mosque-goers’ in Blackburn has apologised after concerns were raised by members of the community.

A YouTuber, from Blackburn, had been spotted by people outside or near to mosques.

Concerns were raised with people posting ‘warnings’ to others over the actions on social media.

The videos were posted on a YouTube account and also on Instagram.

However, over the weekend another video was shared on WhatsApp which showed a house being targeted by another man.

Police were also filmed at the property by the owner.

On Monday, a further message shared on Facebook showed the man apologising to members of the Muslim community for ‘any offence caused’ by the earlier mosque videos.

On Tuesday, the content including the apology had been deleted from the accounts.

Police said they had been made aware of a video on social media of a man outside mosques in Blackburn.

A police spokesperson said: “We have spoken to members of the community who have raised concerns and we have given words of advice to the person who has filmed the videos.

“In a separate incident, we were called to reports of a criminal damage at a property in Blackburn.

“An arrest was made. Subsequently, the complaint has been withdrawn and no further action will be taken in relation to this matter.”
