A man charged with attempted murder of a police officer will appear in court in October to enter his pleas.
Russell Smith, 53, was also charged with possessing a bladed article following the incident at Preston railway station on Saturday (September 7).
Smith, of Shakespeare Road, Preston, appeared at Preston Magistrates' Court yesterday where a plea and trial preparation hearing was scheduled for October 7 at Preston Crown Court.
Smith was refused bail and remanded into custody.
At around 9.30pm on September 7, a British Transport Police officer was on duty at Preston railway station when he was seriously assaulted.
Paramedics attended and the officer was taken to hospital with 'injuries consistent with being stabbed.'
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The attack happened as people packed into the station following the BBC Radio 2 in the Park Festival at the city's Moor Park.
