Burnley is preparing for a jam-packed weekend with numerous events on to keep people of all ages and interests entertained.

The town centre will be taken over on Saturday, September 14, and Sunday 15 by the Vintage and Performance Car Show, the Ormerod Street Music Festival, Heritage Open Days and the Dark Moon Comic Fair at Burnley Market.

Spanning from St James’s Street to Curzon Street, the Burnley Vintage and Performance Car Show returns to the town centre on Saturday from 11am to 4pm.

As one of the staples of the Burnley event calendar, it features a variety of classic and retro vehicles, live music, fairground rides and a car-themed trail.

With the chance to meet Optimus Prime and the Imperial Alliance Stormtroopers, there is plenty of entertainment for all the family and there will also be an exciting car-themed trail with numerous prizes to be won.

The event is organised by Burnley Business Improvement District (BID) and supported by the Rotary Club.

Raising money for East Lancashire Hospice, the Ormerod Street Music Festival is taking place throughout the weekend.

Hosted by Bar Mojito’s and Remedy Gin Bar, with a line-up of local bands playing and is completely free.

The Dark Moon Comic Fair is also returning to Burnley Market on Saturday, bringing with it comics, manga, collectables, gaming, handmade crafts and competitions to name a few.

Laura Diffey, Burnley BID project manager, said; “Burnley town centre is a great place to be on September 14 and 15, with lots of different events taking place over the weekend.

“Whether you’re a fan of cars, like manga, appreciate architecture or love live music, there’s something for everyone!

"Lots of local businesses have come together to put on these events, with the aim of driving lots of visitors and creating a real buzz in the area.”

This weekend also marks the culmination of a brilliant week of the Heritage Open Days and there are opportunities to have a tour around Burnley Mechanics – a central piece of cultural activity since 1855.

Free Jazz music performances will be available in The Front Room and a selection of films from Burnley Film Maker and an adventure walk for families around the building.
