A man has been arrested after police spotted a car driving dangerously around Blackpool.
Police stopped a vehicle for having no insurance and there was also an allegation of false imprisonment, when someone is intentionally restricted from moving without the legal authority, of his partner.
Officers were asked to locate a vehicle that was driving recklessly, exceeding the speed limits, and going straight through red lights.
The driver was stopped and arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment. The victim was taken to an address where she was safeguarded.
A police spokesperson said: “Myself, SC Seamus, and SC Luke were out tonight on Safer Roads Team tasking in Blackpool
“We stopped a vehicle showing as having no insurance, which transpired to be true so the driver was issued with a traffic offence report for driving without insurance
“Then while performing mobile patrol we were requested to assist with searching for a vehicle which was driving recklessly, exceeding the speed limits and going straight through red lights - there was also an allegation of false imprisonment of his partner. There was us, and our colleagues from armed response and immediate response, along with neighbourhood [police] tasked with the search.
“We [located] the vehicle which was performing a u-turn in the road and we took our chance to detain the driver who was swiftly arrested [on suspicion of] false imprisonment.
“The victim was taken to an address where she was safeguarded. His vehicle is fitted with a black box so enquiries with his insurer are taking place to gather evidence of any dangerous driving offences.”
