A car has been seized after being driven in an ‘erratic manner’ in Clitheroe.

On Friday night (September 6), the vehicle was seen speeding through the town centre.

Police checks found that the owner of the vehicle had already been given a warning in July.

The vehicle was seized and now the owner will have to pay a release charge in order to get his vehicle back.

A police spokesperson said: “Clitheroe Neighbourhood Team have witnessed a vehicle driving in an erratic manner around the town centre of Clitheroe this evening.

“The vehicle was seen by officers speeding through the town centre and eventually came to a compliant stop near Pendle Hill.

"The vehicle had already been given a warning under s59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 in July 2024. The driver has not learned his lesson and subsequently, the vehicle was then seized.

“Clitheroe Neighbourhood Team will take the necessary action against those drivers causing harassment, alarm, or annoyance in the town centre.

"The vehicle has been recovered by police and the driver will have to pay the necessary release charges to obtain his vehicle back.

“Road safety is a common topic in most towns across Lancashire and Police will take the required action against those drivers where their ability falls below that of a careful and competent driver.”
