Barclays Bank has notified customers that it is moving into a new location within The Mall Blackburn.

The branch will have a 'pod' with private seating opposite the Pandora Jewellery and The Works stores.

The purpose-built stall aims to deal with customer queries and people who want to speak to staff face to face. There will be no cash handling facilities on site, so cash deposits and withdrawals, cannot take place there.

As well as seating outside the pod, shoppers can speak to staff inside.

The bank had closed its branch on Darwen Street in May and moved into offices within Freckleton Business Centre off St Peter’s Street.

The bank had announced the closure of its long-standing site in January much to the disappointment of some customers.

A message to customers said: “We're no longer visiting Freckleton Business Centre - you can now visit us in our pod at The Mall Blackburn, Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4pm and Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

“Get one-to-one help with managing your account, digital banking and more. Search 'Barclays local' online for directions or to book an appointment. There's no cash service but you can use the Post Office for anything to do with cash or cheques (limits may apply).”

The former site of Barclays on Darwen Street remains empty.
