A Colne man who has been selected to be a judge at an international film festival has revealed plans to shoot a new spy thriller in Nelson.

Sabir Hussain, known as Saby Khan, will be overlooking entries to the Golden Nugget International Film Festival (GNIFF).

Saby said he is also writing his debut short film which will be shot in Nelson and Bradford as part of Bradford City of Culture 2025.

Saby said: "I was shocked to get a call directly from the founder Mr Qureshi that he would be sitting on all future panels judging up and coming movies, from spy thrillers to horror movies from over 150 countries around the world.

"The aim is to find new talented filmmakers and help their films be viewed and to connect them with experienced filmmakers.

"I will be looking to help promote new talent from the local region to launch their new artistic projects to an international audience and have film festivals planned in  USA, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Morocco.

"I am also working on two short film projects. The first is in Nelson and Bradford which is a spy thriller and second is set in New York and is about vampires."

Saby has previously been honoured by the Prime Ministers' Points of Lights award and Unsung Heroes Award for his 25 years of involvement in the arts and entertainment industry.
