A major route into and out of Preston has been reopened after it was closed this afternoon over 'a concern for welfare'.
The A6 London Way, Walton-Le-Dale near the roundabout with B6230 Hennel Lane was shut by police.
A police spokesperson said: "We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time, whilst we assess the situation.
"In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination."
An update this evening read: "We let you know earlier that the A6 London Way, Walton-Le-Dale had closed due to a concern for welfare.
"We can now let you know that the road is open for you to travel.
"Thank you for your patience."
