Former Coronation Street star, Alex Bain, is preparing to swap the cobbles for the stage when he takes part in a Blackburn pantomime this year.

Alex, who recently left ITV soap after 15 years, says he is excited to play Dandini in Cinderella, at King George’s Hall.

Alex said: “I am so excited to be back in my home town of Blackburn this Christmas in the magical story of Cinderella. I will see you there.

“Thanks to the amazing Shone Productions for the opportunity to get back into the panto spirit again.”

A spokesperson for King George’s Hall said Alex, who played Simon Barlow on Coronation Street, will “bring some magic to the stage”.

They said: “We're thrilled to welcome the incredible Alex Bain to our cast for this year's enchanting Cinderella pantomime!

“You know Alex from his amazing role on Coronation Street, and now he's ready to bring some magic to our stage. Get ready for a fairy-tale adventure filled with laughter, love, and a touch of sparkle. Don’t miss out on the chance to see Alex live—tickets are selling fast!”

Cinderella will be on at the Northgate venue from December 5 until December 31.

It promises to be a magical retelling of the classic fairy tale featuring “great songs, dazzling dance routines, stunning scenery, beautiful costumes, lots of laughs and amazing special effects.”

Chloe Carrington will play Cinderella, Callum Arnottas will play Buttons, Luke Attwood and Brandon Nicholson star as the ugly Sisters, and West End star Shelley Anne Rivers will play the fairy godmother.

Producer, James Shone, said: “We're thrilled to bring the magic of pantomime back to Blackburn this holiday season.

"With a stellar cast, including beloved local performers, we're set to dazzle audiences with a fresh take on this timeless tale. This contemporary adaptation promises entertainment for all ages, and we're confident that it will be an unforgettable experience for everyone in attendance”

Now aged 22, Alex joined Coronation Street in 2008 aged just seven-years-old.

The show’s producers have given Alex many challenging and hard-hitting storylines over the years, including when the rogue teen became abusive towards his step-mum Leanne Battersby after she adopted him.

In 2011, Alex was awarded Best Young Performance at the British Soap Awards.
