In a rundown of UK's top theme parks for children, Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been ranked as one of the best according to a new study.

Using different variables such as the number of rides, eateries, average hotel costs and TripAdvisor ratings, the study analysed parks for their family-friendly attributes.

The study, by Outdoor Toys, found Blackpool Pleasure Beach, known for its 38 rides and five food outlets, provides excellent value for families.

Average hotel stay costs are around £82 per night, with child tickets costing £28.07.

The park's popularity is clear with more than two million annual online searches.

These combined factors gave the Pleasure Beach a total score of 5.86 out of 10, ranking it fifth among the UK's theme parks for youngsters.

The title for the UK's best theme park for kids went to Drayton Manor in Staffordshire with a park score of 7.29 out of 10.

Boasting 47 rides – the highest among all children’s theme parks in the UK - and 11 food outlets, it offers a broad range of attractions.

Hotels in Staffordshire provide the most affordable stays among UK's theme parks, averaging £67 per night.

Admission for children is set at £27.50.

Paultons Theme Park in Hampshire came in second place with a park score of 6.86 out of 10.

Despite a higher average cost at hotels and child's ticket price of £43.50, the park is a popular choice.

It is home to Peppa Pig World and enjoys a 70.51 per cent 'excellent' rating from its patrons.

Fantasy Island in Skegness ranked fourth, while these and the Pleasure Beach outranked the likes of Alton Towers, Legoland Windsor, Thorpe Park and Lightwater Valley in the list.

The list was compiled by online retailer Outdoor Toys, which sells items including climbing frames.
