The Speaker of the House of Commons was at Boundary Park on Sunday (September 1) to see Oldham RLFC celebrate winning League One and returning to Championship.
Sir Lindsay Hoyle, who has been the Speaker of the House since 2019, was at the stadium due to his other role, President of the Rugby Football League.

A video shared on Twitter by Kashif Ashraf, the Oldham President of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, showed Mr Hoyle speaking to other attendees in one of the Boundary Park suites after the game.
During the video, Mr Hoyle, who hails from Adlington, described rugby league as "the game I love".

Following a 56-0 win over Workington, the Roughyeds seventh win to nil across the year, the players lifted the League One trophy on the Boundary Park pitch.
The Speaker of the House was not the only well-known face at Boundary Park on Sunday, with one of Oldham's most famous sons, Tommy Cannon, also in attendance.

The Roughyeds will now prepare for life back in the Championship following a whirlwind 18 months which has seen them taken over by a new ownership group, move into Boundary Park and win the League One title.
