Three major new events to boost and East Lancashire township's high street are in need of organisers.
Hyndburn Council has £70,000 of government cash for the new attractions in Great Harwood.
It is proposing to stage a cinema weekend, themed food markets, and a music event.
They are designed to promote Great Harwood’s high streets, increase footfall, and enhance the overall town centre experience.
The events, planned for between October and the end of March, are eligible for grants from a £70,000 cash pot of government Levelling Up funding administered by the local authority on behalf of the Great Harwood Accelerator Panel.
The panel is composed of a range of stakeholders who have a relevant interest in Great Harwood town centre including residents, business owners and community representatives.
Although it includes representatives of Hyndburn Council, the body is chaired independently.
It is seeking applications from organisations and community groups to run events in the following categories: a cinema weekend, themed food markets, and a music event.
They aim to boost local business and attract visitors from the wider Lancashire community.
Peter Holden, chair of the panel said: “We are thrilled to offer this opportunity to potential event organisers.
These events will not only bring excitement and entertainment to our high streets but also provide a significant boost to local businesses.”
The authority's deputy leader and Netherton ward's Cllr Noordad Aziz, who is a member of the Great Harwood Accelerator Panel, said: “Our goal is to create a vibrant and welcoming town centre that attracts visitors, keeps them in town for longer and increases the use of the fantastic independent shops, cafes and other businesses Great Harwood has to offer.
"We hope events like these will help in achieving this vision.”
Applications must be submitted by noon on September 11.
More information and details of how to apply are available on Hyndburn Council’s website.
