The council has issued a warning, and introduced some parking restrictions, as Pleasington Cemetery and Crematorium is set to be “very busy” today.
This afternoon (August 29), the cemetery is set to be busy from 4pm until 7pm due to two funerals taking place in the new extension.
Anyone attending has been asked to park in the areas highlighted in yellow on the map.
Visitors have been asked not to park in areas marked red as this can damage the grass and cause vehicles to be blocked in. The extension, past the red cross on the map, will also be closed to vehicles but can still accessed by foot.
A spokesperson for Blackburn with Darwen Cemeteries and Crematorium said: “This afternoon (August 29) we expect the cemetery to be very busy from 4pm to 7pm due to two funerals taking place within the new extension.
“If you are attending the cemetery by vehicle during these hours, please park only in the areas highlighted yellow – seen on the map attached.
“Please do not park in any of the areas marked in red. The extension, past the red cross – will also be closed to vehicles. However, you can still access the area by foot.
“Parking in areas marked in red causes a lot of damage to the grass and can cause vehicles to be blocked in and we hope you will help us in ensuring this doesn’t happen going forward.”
