A sentence hearing for a Clitheroe woman who admitted to stabbing her estranged husband has been adjourned.

Ann McKenna, 55, was due to be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday (August 28).

This has been put back to September 4 after she was not produced on video link by HMP Styal and due to issues with various reports.

McKenna, of Chatburn Road, was initially charged with the attempted murder of John McKenna following an incident at her flat in December in which he was stabbed in the neck.

She was also charged with using coercive and controlling behaviour towards him between December 2015 and September 2023.

A trial was due to begin at Preston Crown Court in June, but McKenna then pleaded guilty to section 18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship instead, which was accepted by the prosecution.

The case remains in front of Judge Simon Medland KC and McKenna remains in custody until the rescheduled hearing.
