A Darwen furniture manufacturer took an extended two-hour lunch break to participate in tests like those seen on ‘The Cube’.
More than 120 employees at Teal raised more than £1,400 for two local charities as teams took on 15 challenges to be crowned the best of the best and win a cash prize.
Tests included an archery challenge, a blindfolded walk guided by teammates, how many marshmallows can you get into your mouth, and ‘Where’s Oli’ – named after operations director Oli Clarke.
After the challenges, they held a raffle with prizes donated from local companies including Blackburn Rovers, Clayton Park Bakery, Mytton Fold, Imode Design, Freya’s Grill and Munchies.
Oli Clarke, operations director, said: “Our charity partners are voted for by employees of The Senator Group, and as such, are always close to our hearts.
“I have been overwhelmed by the generosity and enthusiasm of our people and local businesses too.
“Teal Test is an annual event that not only raises money for worthy causes but is also an opportunity to get everyone together for a bit of team building.”
They also held a tombola with prizes donated by Teal employees.
Hot dogs and treats welcomed competitors afterwards where entertainment was provided by Nick Clough having his legs waxed to raise money for charity.
Teal is part of The Senator Group and this year’s chosen charity where Jeffrey’s Journey and East Lancashire Hospice.
Jeffrey’s Journey is a charity close to the heart of The Senator Group and raises money for a little boy who was born with Batten disease, a rare and incurable genetic illness.
His parents both work at The Senator Group and their son, Jeffrey Charlesworth, inspired the Jeffrey’s Jet, which won this year’s Accrington Soapbox challenge.
The Senator Group raised almost £10,000 for its chosen charities so far, driven by its charity committee.
