A MAN lost his driving licence after moving his car 50 yards.
Blackburn magistrates heard Daniel Stephens had been waiting for funds so he could tax and insure his vehicle before moving it to a nearby car park.
Stephens, 27, of South Street, Bacup, pleaded guilty to drug driving and driving without insurance.
He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 60 hours unpaid work. He was banned for 14 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
The court heard Stephens had been given the car by his mum when she bought a new vehicle.
He parked it near his home but got a build-up of notes on the windscreen asking him to move it because it was causing difficulties for local businesses.
When he got the funds he taxed it and got some short-term insurance so he could move it to a nearby car park. He believed the insurance had gone through but it hadn’t processed.
When he moved the car he was spoken to by police and failed a drug test for cannabis.
