Blackburn television presenter, AJ Odudu, is asking the public to get voting after a reality show she presents has been shortlisted for a National Television Award (NTA).

Celebrity Big Brother, hosted by AJ and Will Best, has been shortlisted for the reality competition prize at the NTAs.

It is up against Love Island, The Traitors, The Apprentice and Race Across the World.

Speaking to AJ’s 264,000 Instagram followers, Will said: “It’s quite big news actually.

"We’ve just found out that celebrity Big Brother is nominated for best reality competition at this year’s NTAs.”

AJ said: “I am absolutely delighted. Thank you so much for all of your votes to get us onto that shortlist. You voted for us once before and now we need you to do it again.”

"Don’t just do it for us,” Will said, "do it for whoever your favourite was from this series.”

AJ added: “Do it for us as well. Click on the link and vote.”

Voting closes at 12pm on Wednesday, September 11.

AJ was in the running for the best presenter award but appears not to have made the final shortlist. She appealed for votes in May.

Mr Bates vs. The Post Office, starring Accrington actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, has also been nominated for best new drama.

Lee Mack, who lived in The Centurion pub in Blackburn while growing up, could also come home with an award.

His show The 1% Club has been nominated for best quiz game show.

Nelson-born director Jed Mercurio released the second series of drama Trigger Point last year. It is nominated for best returning drama.

Brassic, which was filmed in Bacup and other parts of Lancashire, has been nominated for best comedy.

A spokesperson for the NTAs said: “The National Television Awards is Britain's leading TV awards event where all the winners are chosen exclusively by you.

“Millions of votes are cast each year via post, telephone and online. The results are revealed live on ITV in a spectacular celebration of the nation's most loved stars and shows.”
