The body of a woman who was found dead in a Lancashire village last week has been identified following a police appeal.
Officers were called to Dawson Lane in Whittle-le-Woods on Friday (August 23) to a report that a woman had been found dead.
She has now been formally identified after members of her family came forward.
Police shared pictures of the woman’s clothing at the time she was found in the hope people would recognise her.
They also said she was believed to be a rough sleeper and that she was carrying a silver-coloured tent/rain cover.
A police spokesperson said: “We would like to thank the community for sharing our appeal to help with this very sad case.
“Whilst it is good news that we have now identified this woman, our thoughts are very much with her family and loved ones at this time.”
The woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
