Punters flocked to Colne last night as the 33rd Great British Rhythm and Blues festival concluded a fantastic weekend with thousands flocking to the town.

Festival goers had already been treated to an abundance of live music across the Pendle Hippodrome, The Exchange Project State, and the Little Theatre Acoustic Stage – with over 50 artists performing at the major venues across the three days.

An additional 130 performances occurred across 13 other fringe stages and showed off a plethora of local artists amongst an already immensely talented line up.

Matt Schofield closed the festival last night, Sunday August 25, with an incredible performance and demonstrated his elite level guitar playing and vocals.

And attendees were treated to a wide range of styles and performance with Chris Corcoran proceeding the headliner.

Internationally recognised The Cinelli Brothers were also a notable feature at the Pendle Hippodrome.

Simon Shackleton, Festival Coordinator at Colne Blues Society, said: “Colne has done it yet again, what a tremendous weekend and one that has been a huge success.

“From the main venues and the Official Fringe venues, to our local shops, pubs and eateries, it has been another amazing community event, and one that we will remember fondly for years to come.

“We would like to thank all our fantastic artists for their incredible performances over the weekend, and to our visitors and fans of the festival, thank you for supporting us once again.”

Organised by Colne Town Council and the Colne Blues Society and the festival had something for everyone with fairground rides running until Monday, August 26.

Nathan Cutler, Colne Town Council’s Events Officer, said: “The Blues festival is one of the best events in Colne and that has been proved once again.

“People have visited Colne in their thousands, and we hope everyone has thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”

The event was also critical for businesses with shops, pubs and eateries packed throughout the weekend.
