Police are appealing for help to identify the body of a woman who was found dead in Lancashire.

Officers were called by the ambulance service on Friday (August 23) to Dawson Lane in Whittle-le-Woods to a report that a woman had been found dead.

Police say she is approximately 40-50-years-old with short, dark, curly hair and a very slim build. She is approximately 5ft 4in tall and has no obvious scars or tattoos.

At the time, the woman was wearing a black Peter Storm rain jacket, navy blue waterproof cargo trousers, a pink Asics t-shirt, orange and black Crane footwear, black Ronhill gloves, and a rose gold Lipsy watch.

She also had with her a silver-coloured tent/rain cover. Police believe she was sleeping rough and was dressed for the elements.

The woman had a phone in her possession but officers have been unable obtain any data from it to help identification. Her fingerprints are also not on their database.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious and there is no evidence of third-party involvement.

Anyone with information that could help the police with their enquiries should call 101 quoting LC-20240823-0651.
