A farm housing horses and ponies in East Lancashire is inviting families to a fun day of activities next month.
The Horses and Ponies Protection Association (HAPPA) is hosting a family fun day at Shores Hey Farm in Briercliffe on Sunday, September 15.
Visitors will be able to take a stroll around the farm and say hello to the friendly animals, and browse a variety of stalls featuring unique gifts and treats from local businesses, including HAPPA’s own fundraising stalls where there will be favourites such as hook-a-duck, tombola, and glitter tattoos.
In the indoor arena there will be a dog agility and flyball display by Pendle Dog Agility Club.
Live-action displays will also include an adrenaline-pumping mounted archery display by Ribble Valley Mounted Archers, as skilled riders hit targets while moving on horseback.
For those wanting to get up close to the resident rescue horses, the charity’s friendly team will be happy to guide you through the basics of pony grooming.
Pony rides are also available for those aged six and older. Limited spaces are available for those that would like to try horse riding for the first time.
After a full day of fun, food and refreshments will be available in the HAPPA café.
Sarah Arthur, chief executive of HAPPA, said: “This family fun day is set to be the best one yet. A gathering of like-minded folk and a celebration of the work we do whilst raising vital funds for the charity.
“Without the support of the local community, HAPPA would cease to exist. I appeal to everyone to get involved in what the day has to offer, immerse yourselves in the happiness horses can bring and enjoy the activities at the same time. We hope to see you all there.”
