One of Lancashire’s flagship music festivals kicked off in the county last night ahead of a Bank Holiday weekend packed full of events.
The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival returned to Colne once again and started with a bang last night.
Last night (Friday, August 23) marked the start of three days of the best blues artists in the UK playing in the East Lancashire town, across the Pendle Hippodrome, The Exchange Project Stage, and the Little Theatre Acoustic Stage.
The festival, organised by Colne Town Council, will see more than 50 artists perform across the three stages this weekend.
As well as the main festival, a number of activities are on offer including a funfair, running until Monday, August 26.
One of the main features of last night’s performances was a tribute to legendary blues musician Victor Brox who died last year.
His daughter, Kyla Brox, took to the stage and wowed the crowds with her vocal and flute playing – an instrument given to her by her father which features in her live shows.
The festival continues today (August 24) and tomorrow (August 25) with tickets still available to purchase from Colne Town Hall.
