A delivery rider was stopped by police as they were riding a bicycle along the M6.

Officers stopped the rider on the motorway near Preston last night (August 23) as they were attempting to deliver fast food.

Police said they were riding along the hard shoulder of the motorway.

Due to the power output of the e-bike falling into the moped category, the rider was required to have a licence and insurance, which they did not have.

They were summonsed to court and the bike was seized.

A police spokesperson said: "This bike was stopped on the M6 near to Preston.
