A train operator has issued a ‘do not travel’ warning for some of its routes for this Sunday (August 25).
The routes included in the warning include some in East Lancashire.
Northern is warning passengers not to travel between Blackburn and Manchester Victoria via Todmorden and between Clitheroe and Manchester Victoria.
This is due to a shortage of train crew, and alternative travel will not be available for those routes.
Other affected routes are:
- Liverpool – Wigan – Blackpool North
- Wigan North Western – Stalybridge
- Southport – Manchester Victoria
- Manchester Victoria – Chester
The operator also warned the Cumbrian Coast line between Lancaster and Carlisle is expected to see a reduced service and a return journey may not be provided.
Other services in and around the North West may be subject to disruption and very short notice cancellations.
A Northern spokesperson said: “For routes that are operating we encourage everyone to plan ahead and check journeys before travelling, particularly last trains of the day which may be earlier than usual and may be cancelled at short notice.
“If you do travel, please leave yourself plenty of time to do so and don't rely on last services.
“Trains currently showing may not run, our control teams are working to update the train plan but you should check closer to the time of travel.”
