Police have issued a warning after Darwen was targeted by thieves on Wednesday night (August 21).

During the evening, two vehicles were stolen and two burglaries were reported.

The incidents occurred around Exchange Street, Avondale Road, Douglas Grove, Reservoir Street, School Street and Dove Lane.

Officers have urged homeowners to secure their property and lock their doors. They have been asked to remove keys from sight and secure their vehicles.

A police spokesperson said: “Last night (Wednesday) it would seem that Darwen was a target for thieves.

“During the evening and night time, there were two thefts of motor vehicles, and two burglary in dwellings.

“We urge you to please secure your property, lock your doors , remove your keys from sight, secure your vehicle and remove any items of value from sight.

“The incidents occurred around Exchange Street, Avondale Road, Douglas Grove, Reservoir Street, School Street and Dove Lane.
