Five people, including two men from East Lancashire, have been charged after a police chase following a burglary ended in a crash on Sunday night.

The three-car crash happened on Bury New Road in Prestwich, near the Tesco store, at around 8.20pm.

The collision happened just 20 minutes after police were called to a burglary in Stockport at around 8pm.

Videos taken at the time showed a large police presence with two damaged cars and van.

There was debris in the road, including a traffic light on the floor.

It resulted in road closures on Bury New Road and the M60 junction 17 exit ramp was closed for emergency repairs.

No-one involved in the crash received any life-threatening injuries and four arrests were made shortly after the crash happened.

Greater Manchester Police has now confirmed five people have been charged.

Stephen Meakin, 39, of Hood Street, Accrington, Matthew Hammond, 30, of Toronto Street, Bolton, Connor Bradley, 25, of Bradford Street, Bolton, James Hosker, 19, of Lincoln Court, Accrington, and a 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have all been charged with burglary in connection with the incident.
