A BBC antiques star is set to return to a popular venue to value prized possessions and heirlooms.

In April, people flocked to The Barlow, in Edgworth, from across Lancashire and Greater Manchester to present their antiques for valuation by Antiques Road Trip and Bargain Hunt expert Irita Marriott.

Excited eventgoers arrived hours before the event started, but the antiques expert managed to see them all – including a Chinese vase worth around £1,000.

Now, Irita is set to return to The Barlow in September to carry out even more valuations.

Organiser John Marriott – unrelated to Irita – spoke to The Bolton News about his excitement ahead of the event.

John said: “Bring what you can, bring your valuables if you think they’re worth anything or not – bring them to the Barlow for evaluation, you’ll all be made welcome.

“A lot of people loved our Reading Room Cafe [last time], they went in there for meals. There were a lot of people who weren’t aware we were there, and I think that was the most fantastic thing – ‘we never knew you were here, what a fantastic place’.

“I think that was it – in fact, Irita did say ‘If I were getting married again, I’d get married here’. She enjoyed it that much, because we do weddings at The Barlow in the main hall.”

The next valuation event is due to take place between 11am and 4pm on Sunday, September 15.

Event organisers say the only valuables not allowed at the event are pieces of furniture – with jewellery, pottery, and other items all welcomed.
