A rail operator has added a senior appointment to their ranks.

Chris Clarke has been named head of operational delivery in the North West by train operator Northern.

Previously employed for 13 years at Transport for London (TfL), Clarke was in charge of resource planning for the capital's towering 6,000-station staff and led major IT operations.

He also operated as the Victoria line's operations manager for five years.

January 2022 marked his transfer to Northern, initially as a disruption controller, progressing to regional improvement manager by August the same year.

Craig Harrop, regional director for Northern, praised Clarke’s appointment, he added: "Chris’ appointment as head of operational delivery for the North West is a testament to his operational knowledge, hard work and commitment to keeping Northern moving.

"In this role, Chris will play a pivotal part in ensuring our services across the region are resilient to the challenges they face."

On heading into his new role, Mr Clarke said: "I’m really enjoying my time at Northern.

"The North West represents a huge part of the Northern network and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and helping to improve service reliability for customers."
