A man who had committed thefts and burglaries, including Blackburn Rovers kits, accepted he deserved to go to prison.

Blackburn magistrates heard Levi Walsh had committed some of his latest offences before he was made subject to a suspended prison sentence and some after.

Walsh, 34, of Pilmuir Road, Blackburn, admitted to burglary at Nadia’s Hair Salon, Duckworth Street, Darwen with intent to steal, attempted burglary at The Pie Hole, burglary with intent to steal at the Paint Station and burglary at the Nail Salon, both on Preston Old Road, theft of children’s kits worth £309 from the Blackburn Rovers shop and theft from Tesco Express.

He was committed in custody to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced after the court heard he was in breach of an eight week suspended sentence.

Damien Pickup, defending, said his client fully accepted he was going to prison.

“He also accepts he deserves that,” said Mr Pickup. “He says that is the best place for him and the business owners whose premises he has targeted.

Mr Pickup said his client had a serious addiction to crack cocaine and heroin and prison was the only place for him at the moment.

“You have the power to impose a significant custodial sentence today which he knows he deserves,” he added.
