A Blackburn mother-of-four has been described as “outgoing and full of jokes” after her unexpected death.
Sonia Robson died, aged 33, on August 7. A fundraiser has been set up by her brother, the funds of which will be used to pay for funeral costs.
Sonia’s family and friends have been left devastated after she was ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’ found dead at home, a few months after spending time in intensive care with pneumonia.
Sonia’s brother, Jason Robson, said: “Sonia died quite suddenly and we didn’t have any funeral arrangements set up. We set the GoFundMe up to make sure she has the send-off she deserves.”
Sonia’s funeral is set to take place on September 4, with a service at Accrington Cemetery from 10am. Those in attendance have been encouraged to wear a purple item of clothing.
Jason said: “She was quite popular in Blackburn and she grew up here. Most of her friends are from the town.
“She was a very jokey woman and was always the loudest person in the room. She was always happy and laughing. She was a good mother, sister and daughter.
“Sonia was full of life. She was very outgoing always full of jokes.
“As her older brother I am devastated, if there is one thing to say about my sister is she was very well-loved by many friends.”
On Wednesday, August 14, crowds gathered at Queen’s Park in Blackburn, to release purple balloons in Sonia’s memory.
Jason said: “I want to thank family and friends members who attended the balloon release.
“I want to thank everyone who has shown their support and tagged us in pictures and videos on social media.”
More than £3,000 has been donated to the GoFundMe so far and Jason wants to thank anyone who has donated.
He said: “We hit our target on Monday and we are quite shocked at how quickly it reached that target.
“I want to thank everyone who donated.
“We wanted her to have the right send-off and make sure there is no stress or worry on them [about the funeral]
“Now we know what we can and can’t get for the funeral.
“I also want to thank Oswaldtwistle Funeral Services as they have not pushed us for the funds immediately which has taken a lot of stress off us. It means we can plan things without having to worry [about costs] as much.”
