Families are being asked to bring their picnic blankets and baskets to a free event in a Blackburn park at the end of the month.

The "Picnic in the Park" event at Queen’s Park will take place on Saturday, August 31 from 10am.

Organisers IMO said there will be wall climbing, creative arts, face painting and  a model boating experience. It comes ahead of the charity's move into the new Audley and Queen's Park Neighbourhood Learning Centre.

IMO’s youth service manager, Faz Sidat said: "We are eager to gather ideas and feedback from participants to help shape our future services and strengthen our relationship with the people we serve.

"This is a chance for families to speak directly with IMO’s team and contribute to the vision of IMO’s new home, ensuring it meets the needs and expectations of the community.

"We’re excited to bring the community together for a memorable day. It’s an opportunity to promote the great work we do at IMO Charity and knowing that we will be based in the heart of the Audley community fills us with excitement.

"We look forward to welcoming you all on the day.”

Head of programmes at IMO, Mark Lawes, said: "The family engagement day is an important milestone for us, as it symbolises our commitment to serving the community and strengthening the bond between families and IMO Charity.

"IMO has always put its communities at the heart of its work, and their ideas and vision are incredibly important to us as we shape our new home at the Audley and Queen's Park Neighbourhood Learning Centre.

"We look forward to building on our relationship with the local community as we make this exciting transition."
