Traffic misery for drivers on a busy Blackburn road is set to continue until the end of the month.

There have been long delays for drivers in both directions on Montague Street for the past two weeks. Earlier, the one.network website listed the work listed to finish at midnight on Saturday 17 August.

The work on gas pipes is now set to continue until August 30.

One lane of Montague Street is closed and the roadworks are causing further delays on adjoining routes.

A section of Feilden Street is also closed to traffic.

One of the biggest issues for drivers has been queues backed up onto Barbara Castle Way and Preston New Road.

In the opposite direction drivers heading into the road from King Street and Wainwright Way are also affected.

Drivers can avoid this section of the road by heading into Stonyhurst Road and then Oakenhurst Road.

The closure of Blakey Moor, next to the Victoria Building, means drivers have been unable to take shortcuts through the town centre.
