A retirement community in Lancashire has raised more than £800 for a mental health charity.

The Court in Buckshaw Retirement Village, near Chorley, recently held an event which raised £821 for Lancashire Mind.

The fundraising event included a meal, a live performance by Lancashire singer Johnnie Horton, a charity auction and a raffle.

Businesses in Lancashire made donations to the event, which were auctioned or raffled.

One resident at The Court, Tony Plummer, said: "We’re very proud of those who live at The Court and the entire Buckshaw Village community for their support in raising these funds for a very special charity in Lancashire.

"The fundraiser highlights the strong sense of community we have here, and we are thrilled to contribute to such a worthy cause.

"Mental health is an issue that touches all of us and we’re pleased that the money raised will help Lancashire Mind continue the vital work they do."

Nicola Tomkins, head of fundraising at Lancashire Mind, said: "We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the residents and community of The Court for their incredible fundraising efforts.

"The donation will go a long way in helping us ensure that everyone in Lancashire can achieve the best mental health and wellbeing possible.

"Your support truly makes a difference in people’s lives."

The charity will use the funds raised by The Court for a range of initiatives, including projects focusing on children and young people, community engagement, and adult coaching services, to promote mental wellbeing and resilience in individuals throughout the region.
