If you're looking for something to do this bank holiday weekend, there's a range of events taking place across Lancashire.

With a rich mixture of food festivals, music, theatre and quirky championships dotted across the region, there’s something to suit everyone's taste.

Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival

From August 23 to 25, the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, winner of the UK Blues Award – Blues Based Festival of the Year 2021, descends upon Colne.

This festival attracts more than 35,000 visitors and offers a line-up of world-class performers including The Matt Schofield Trio, Dom Martin & Band and Kyla Brox & Friends.

Prices for full festival tickets are £110, with day tickets from £40.

Great Eccleston Tractor Pulling Championships

Over in Great Eccleston on August 23-25, the Great Eccleston Tractor Pulling Championships take place, where the best of the best compete for the European championship.

Described as the best tractor pulling that the UK and Europe have to offer, there's entertainment for kids and monster truck rides.

Adult tickets are £27.64, while kids can enter for £5.62 each.

St. Anne's on the Sea Music Festival

The much-applauded St. Anne’s on the Sea Music Festival kicks off on August 22 and runs until August 26.

Set in Ashton Gardens, the festival offers an array of music across two stages, with themed nights like Rock and Glam nights, and a selection of food, drink and fairground rides.

This event is free of charge.

Amazing Accrington Soapbox Challenge

The Amazing Accrington Soapbox Challenge takes place on August 24, a free event where you can watch unique creations whizz down the track that includes jumps, chicanes, and water blasters.

A two-level height ramp starts the 170-metre long track lined with a variety of surprises.

Lowther Pavilion World Food & Drink Festival

From August 24 to 26, the Lowther Pavilion in Lytham hosts the World Food & Drink Festival.

With a huge range of stalls, family entertainment, and set in the historic parkland of Lowther Gardens, this festival makes for a mouth-watering journey around the world and it's free to enter!

Fleetwood Fiesta

The Bank Holiday celebrations continue with the Fleetwood Fiesta from August 26 to 28.

Here, you can meet Stitch (August 24), enjoy salsa dancing by the sea (August 25), live music, and shop at the renowned stores within Affinity Lancashire.

This event is also free of charge.

Burnley Canal Festival

The Burnley Canal Festival will take place on August 25. It is a free day of celebration with arts and crafts, canalside walks, performances and stalls.

World Gravy Wrestling Championships

On August 26, the World Gravy Wrestling Championship returns to the Rose & Bowl Pub in Stacksteads.

In addition to contests, many activities for the family and a chance for the kids to play in the gravy, the event has cheerleading groups, BB gun shooting ranges, face painting, and craft beer stalls.

Adult tickets cost £3, and children can enter for £2 each.

Summer Brass Band Concert

Chipping, Lancashire will host a Summer Brass Band Concert on August 26.

For £35, you can enjoy music from the Lostock Hall Memorial Brass Band along with a two-course summer lunch and coffee in Gibbon Bridge Hotel.

Hot Ice Show

Each day until September 7, Eternity's Hot Ice Show will take place at Pleasure Beach Resort in Blackpool. Tickets start at £20 for the figure skating show.

The Dukes Outdoor Theatre

Until August 25, there will be outdoor productions of Alice in Wonderland at Williamson Park. Bring your picnics and blankets and enjoy some family fun. Tickets start at £22.50.

Codebreakers Trail

Until September 1, there will be a codebreakers trail at Martin Mere, Ormskirk. Families can find 18 hidden clues around the grounds as well as a number of family activities. Admission starts at £11.80 for children and £18.50 for adults, with the trail cards costing an additional £1.

Summer Saturdays at Lancashire Police Museum

On Saturdays until September 7, there will be a special display of past cases, forensic development and more. The museum is also open on Thursdays and Fridays, but extended opening into Saturday for the summer. Entry is free.

Maize Maze

There is a Maize Maze at Ridgeway Farm in Blackpool until September 1. Included in the design is a replica of the Fylde Coast and the Lytham Green Windmill.

The design also recognises the 200-year anniversary of the RNLI and the Lytham station, known for its role in the 1886 Lytham Lifeboat disaster which saw 27 lifeboat men lose their lives. Entry starts at £6.50.

With such a line-up of varied events, Lancashire promises to give families and individuals an exciting and vibrant Bank Holiday weekend.
