The hoardings had been erected and in November 1994 when this photo was taken, the Trafalgar flats in Burnley were earmarked for demolition.
The majority of families had been moved out and soon the various blocks which had made up the Trafalgar Gardens development - the official name given to the project when it opened in 1968 - would be pulled down.
What had been heralded as a solution to the public housing crisis just 26 years earlier had sadly failed to live to expectations and like many Sixties’ housing projects across East Lancashire failed to stand up to the test of time.
If you lived in the Trafalgar flats, we’d love to see your photos and to hear your memories. Leave a comment.
