Longridge residents are being given the chance to buy or rent nearly 200 affordable homes.
The homes, available for purchase or rent, are soon to be built in the Alston Grange and Higher Road developments.
Eligible residents, with an annual income between £15,000 and £80,000, are urged to sign up for Ribble Valley Borough Council’s affordable housing register.
The upcoming properties are two, three, or four-bedroom houses along with two-bedroom bungalows.
Discount sale properties give residents the opportunity to buy properties up to 30 per cent below market value.
Shared ownership lets residents own between 25 and 75 per cent of a property while renting the remainder at an affordable price.
Chairman of Ribble Valley Borough Council’s health and housing committee, Mark Hindle, said: "Good housing plays a fundamental part in people’s physical and mental health, but the provision of affordable housing is one of the most pressing issues facing the council, with many young people and families being priced out of the borough."
The houses are being established by Ribble Valley Borough Council in alliance with Onward, a social housing provider in the North West of England.
Ribble Valley Borough Council’s housing strategy officer, Rachael Stott, said: "Anyone in Longridge who thinks there is no point in registering for affordable housing should think again, because they may be available if you are on a low income and in some cases not even in employment."
