An evangelical Christian church is proposing to turn a Blackburn gym into a place of worship.
Colin McLaren has applied for planning permission for the change.
He proposes to convert the first floor of the property in Bank Top near Blackburn town centre from a former ladies' fitness centre to a place of worship.
In a letter to Blackburn with Darwen Council planners Mr McLaren says: ’Re: 75 Bank Top, Blackburn.
"We are planning to open a Potters House Church in Blackburn.
"The site proposed above will need no structural or layout changes only a change of use to a place of worship."
The Potters House Church is classed as a 'megachurch' in the United States and already has several branches in the UK.
It is an evangelical Christian organisation and has numerous churches around England with the closest being in Preston and Bolton, plus several across Yorkshire, the Midlands and in London.
