Further plans have been announced for a rhythm & blues festival in Colne taking place over the August bank holiday weekend.

The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, organised by Colne Town Council, will see more than 50 of the UK's top rhythm & blues artists perform across three venues.

As well as the main festival, a number of activities will be on offer including a funfair, running from Friday, August 23 until Monday, August 26.

Facepainting will take place on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday 25.

Attractions will line the high street across the weekend, including an LED robot, drummers on stilts, mirror men, a free photobooth, buskers' tents, and more.

Food vendors will include The Thai Food Van, The Grill, Eyes on the Fries, Golden Catering, Rossi's Ice Cream, and Some Delish.

As part of the festival's #ShopLocal initiative, the council, along with artistic directors of the festival, Colne Blues Society, recently delivered 100 event posters to businesses across the town.

Nathan Cutler, Colne Town Council's events officer, said: "The Blues festival is incredibly important for our local businesses and we are keen to push all our visitors to #ShopLocal.

"We are lucky to have so many fantastic businesses here in Colne and we are looking forward to seeing them bustling over the August Bank Holiday Weekend."

Also gearing up for the festival is the Colne Little Theatre, which has been announced as one of the main venues.

Tristesse James, from Colne Little Theatre, said: "We are really, really looking forward to being a main venue this year for the Blues, it is a brilliant opportunity for us and we can't wait to see lots of people coming through the door and seeing our new building."

Full festival and individual day tickets can be purchased online at the festival's website.
