A man in his 30s has died after entering a river in North Yorkshire.
Emergency services were called to the River Wharfe in Burnsall, at 4.39pm yesterday (Sunday) over reports that a person entered the water and encountered difficulties.
The man is believed to be from the Blackburn area according to messages being shared which pay respect and ask for prayers for the deceased.
Police were approached but said they were not in a position to release any details at this stage.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We attended along with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
“Our colleagues from the fire service located a man in his 30s who had sadly passed away.
“Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the man's death are ongoing and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. However, there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
“The man’s family are aware, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
