A former town centre bar could become the new site for a travel agency.

Harmony Voyages, a family-run travel agent based at Holmes Mill in Clitheroe, has submitted plans to take over the site of Corto.

Corto closed in 2023 and the building has been empty since.

A heritage statement submitted to Ribble Valley Borough Council said: “The proposed works are minimal in nature, the scope of which is limited to cosmetic changes to the interior and exterior of the property.

“With respect to the external painting, the proposed colours are chosen from the colours used as part of Harmony Voyages branding provide a complementary appearance to other nearby properties and do not detract from the existing character of the area.

“To mitigate any potential negative impacts, the following measures will be implemented: use of materials and designs that are in keeping with the original structure, retention and restoration of original features wherever possible, and consultation with a conservation officer to ensure compliance with heritage guidelines.”

The applicant added the impact on the building will be minimal, ensuring its preservation for future generations.
