A fish and chip shop in Blackburn is set to reopen after a fire forced its closure.
After four months of silence on social media, Old Mill Hill Chippy, on New Chapel Street, teased its return after posting to social media.
It said the shop is currently undergoing external renovations with renovations also set to take place inside.
A spokesperson said: “Hello, hope you haven't forgotten about us because we haven't forgotten about you.
“You may notice we have had a little external facelift [sic], the magic is underway inside. Watch this space.”
The fish and chip shop, which readers and reviewers regularly rate as among the best in East Lancashire, closed in April and the business announced it would be “closed for the foreseeable”.
A spokesperson said: “Unfortunately there has been a severe fire during the night at the shop and we will be unable to open.
“It’s a very sad day and a lot to take in. We will be back as quickly as we can and will keep you all updated. We aren't us, without you.
“This is not the end. This is the beginning of our next chapter. We will rise from the ashes together.”
The fish and chip shop was established in 1925, offering fish and chips, a range of pies, sausages, peas, beans, curry and gravy.
Customers have missed the fish and chip shop, offering words of support to the owner.
One person said: “Really looking forward to the time when we can get some delicious fish and chips from your shop again.
"Good luck for the future and hopefully see you again soon.”
Another said: “Can’t wait to see you guys, opening up again, glad everything is coming together for you.”
“Me and my daughter are missing your chips cheese and gravy so much,” said another. “Can't wait for you to be back.”
A fourth customer said: “I will be sleeping in the car the night before opening. Cannot wait, missed you guys.”
“You are going to need tickets when you reopen at this rate, no local chippy compares,” said another.
