A road in Bacup is closed after reports of a police incident.

Part of Rochdale Road, from Cobden Street to New Line, is closed due to a road accident.

According to AA Traffic and Travel, there is heavy traffic in the area affecting traffic between Bacup and Shawforth.

A police spokesperson said: “We are currently dealing with a road closure on Rochdale Road Bacup.

"The road is closed from Cobden Street and New Line. This is due to a road accident. We will update once the road reopens.

"We were called by the ambulance service at 12.35pm today to a report that a man had fallen from the back of a tipper truck.

"A man in his 60s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesperson for AA Traffic and Travel said: “Road closed and heavy traffic due to police incident on A671 Rochdale Road both ways from A6066 New Line to Cobden Street. Affecting traffic between Bacup and Shawforth.”
