Lancashire's vice lord-lieutenant has announced her retirement, with her successor picked with royal consent.
Christine Kirk DL retired on August 7 and Amanda Parker JP, lord-lieutenant, has appointed Brigadier Peter Rafferty MBE DL to take on Mrs Kirk's former role.
He will serve a three-year term with effect from Thursday. (August 8.)
Brigadier Rafferty, current president of Galvion UK Ltd, and chairman of the Lancashire Army Benevolent Fund Committee, served as a deputy lieutenant of Lancashire since 2019.
His new role includes acting as Mrs Parker's deputy, representing His Majesty The King in Lancashire.
Brigadier Rafferty is a diligent advocate for veteran affairs and military charities.
His dedication was also reflected in his commitment to the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund Advisory Panel.
Brigadier Rafferty served as colonel of the regiment from 2013-2018 before retiring from the British Army in 2014.
A family man, Brigadier Rafferty lives in Stainton with his wife Joanne and their two daughters.
