Pupils and staff at a performing arts school are celebrating after getting top marks following a recent grading.

Little Voices Blackburn, Darwen and Ribble Valley teaches children aged four to 18 performing arts, drama and singing. The school has been awarded distinctions in their recent LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) results – the government-accredited performing arts qualifications.

One hundred per cent of the pupils received distinctions and high merits and 95 per cent received distinctions. The school meets in Mellor and Clitheroe and runs a number of classes for children across the region.

The school said it wanted to inspire the next generation of performers.

Principal and drama teacher, Haylie Jones said: “This is a huge achievement for us as a small business but also for all of our little superstars who attacked their exams with so much confidence, enthusiasm and pure joy.

“The power of performing arts is next to none and we continue to change the lives of little ones for the better.

“In a world of technology and social media - children and young people are losing sight of how to communicate properly, they are constantly comparing themselves to others and are losing sight of what really matters in life.”

The school said that is why it was keen to instil values of ‘kindness and supporting each other’ in their members.

Haylie added: “We pride ourselves in not just providing the best lessons in drama and singing but also helping our pupils to become the best little people too - encouraging them to ‘be the best that they can be’. Which is one of our core beliefs.

“We are like a little family at Little Voices and it is amazing to see these children and young people thrive.”
